OH CARDIFF! I almost burned out after Portishead because up until now I had been running these events back to back every four days! I arrived in wales as a shell of myself compared the start full of energy. I gave myself some time here, to really take in what I had been missing from my journey....community.

I found myself in Penarth a little north of the city and I joined the Dawnstalkers in their daily sunrise dips. These beautiful souls held me and I got to experience that lovely warm welcoming Welsh hospitality. It was time for me to receive, take stock and figure out a new plan moving forward. The tour would now evolve in so many ways starting with a weekly schedule giving me more time for myself and less pressure to deliver. Gifting myself this time not only benefited my mental health but also gave me experiences that would be divine in shaping the events to come.

I limited the palate on this piece to vibrant neon colours and I primed the background sunrise inspired. In my meditative quiet, sea dipping as the sun rose, watching the sky light up pink and orange. I remember marvelling at the geese migrating in there perfect V formations silhouetting in front on the majesty of the penarth sunrise. My mind was at peace.  

The Tour Art Concept

Each town of the tour will have a collaborative canvas, splatted and splashed with colour by the community who attend. All the emotions that people bring to the event whether they be happy sad love or anger will be conveyed in the splattered backdrop. I then respond to it with my own painting inspired by my time in each place.

By the end of the tour, I’ll have at least 30 originals. They will then be exhibited in a London charity gala at the end of the tour. The show will then travel for a few weeks reaching North, East & West of the UK. This way everyone who took part will have a chance to see the art.
