Eastbourne is my home, and this was my homecoming show.
My parents live just along the coast in Pevensey Bay, so after months of travelling around the country, Eastbourne gave me the chance to come home, invite my family and friends, reconnect with people I love and show them what this journey had become.
The event also happened to fall on Valentine’s Day, which made throwing a party to battle loneliness feel even more poignant.
We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day. We dipped in the ocean, gathered around a bonfire, toasted marshmallows, shared lots of hugs and watched so many beautiful connections being made.
For me personally, it was an incredibly proud moment. After everything that had happened on the road, I finally got to share the experience with my parents, family and friends and show them what I had achieved.
This painting had actually found its owner before I even arrived.
A lovely lady called Jannette bought the piece in advance with just one request: “Paint me Sea Otters.”
So I decided to paint sea otters holding each other tight. Otters are known for holding hands as they float together, making them feel like the perfect subjects for a painting created on Valentine’s Day and a day dedicated to bringing people closer together.
A little reminder that sometimes, we all just need someone to hold on to.
Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone. ❤️
