I was busking along Portobello seafront the day before my event on the beach when a young boy, probably around 10 or 11, stopped to have a look at my prints.

I told him all about the project, the journey I was on, and the idea behind the artwork. After listening for a while, he simply said, “You should paint a unicorn.”

What I didn’t realise at the time was that the unicorn is actually the national animal of Scotland. I had absolutely no idea!

Sometimes the best ideas come from the most unexpected places and people of all ages. I learned something new that day, took his advice, and the Scottish unicorn found its way onto the canvas.🦄
