Portishead was such a beautiful event. We had some lost souls attend the gathering who I can honestly say really needed the experience. Sugarloaf Beach was such a little gem of a place, and for some reason, the rocky backdrop made me feel like I’d stepped into a 1950s illustrated children’s book.

A few weeks later, at Whitesands Bay in St Davids, Wales, I finally got to work on this piece. I’d been really looking forward to meeting some puffins in Pembrokeshire, but unfortunately they’d already left for the winter.

So I thought, what the heck — “when in Rome”… I’ll just paint one myself :)
