There was a moment on the day in St Ives that made me realise just how important this tour could be for a lot of people.

It happened when I met Serena Jolly of Sunrise Cornwall CIC, a suicide bereavement organisation supporting people going through loss. I was collaborating with them that day, alongside my good friend Melanie Philp of Your True Nature Counselling.

When I asked Serena if she had managed to reach anyone who needed Sunrise through our collaboration, Mel tapped me on the shoulder and said, “Yes, me.”

Needless to say, this brought a tear to my eye.

For the artwork, I painted Wings, a famous seal my friend Nigel told me about. She regularly visits the harbour where I held the gathering and got her nickname from her beautiful markings.

One day, local fishermen had to catch Wings to free her from an Aerobie frisbee that had become stuck around her neck. I gave her a halo in the painting to represent this.
