After arriving in Great Yarmouth, I was contacted by an amazing human being called Mark, who runs Walk and Talk East Anglia, a men’s mental health walking group. They invited me along to one of their walks at Gorleston Beach, where I got to meet everyone. It turned out to be such an important connection.

Although I had originally planned to hold my event in Great Yarmouth, Gorleston suddenly seemed like the perfect place. There was a beautiful pavilion where we could hold the meditation and lovely grounds overlooking the ocean for the silent disco.

The event fell on the day after my birthday. My birthday is on the 2nd of January, which historically isn’t the greatest day for a party. Everyone is usually too hungover to do anything, or they’ve only got enough money left to buy me a pint, which generally results in me getting very messy. 🤣

This year couldn’t have been more different.

On the morning of the event, we had a thick flurry of snow and the whole place turned white. It inevitably put a lot of people off coming, but the Walk and Talk crew showed up with a gazebo, tables and enough cakes to make sure we had a party anyway.

We built snowmen. We had a snowball fight, silent disco style. We danced, laughed and basically played like children in the snow.

What could have been a freezing, quiet January event turned into one of the most beautiful and conscious days of the entire tour.

It genuinely felt like the best birthday party I’ve ever had.

A birthday I’ll never forget. ❤️
